Training with JD Shelley has had a major effect on my life. Here at North Dallas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu , I have learned the art of bjj and muay thai kickboxing and they have given me the discipline and training that has allowed me to be more positive and more respectful person. Through their incisive tutelage the ease of learning these art’s and knowing these art’s become a seamless progression. You see, JD definitely put his heart into teaching and therefore it make it easy for you to give your heart in understanding and learning the art’s. Look foreword to training with you soon.

As someone who has been training in the martial arts for 15 years under a variety of styles and instructors, I am someone who is not easily impressed. JD Shelley impresses me. While training under JD, I have evolved as a martial artist much more than all of my previous experience combined. JD's approach to Jiu-Jitsu is concise, pragmatic and VERY effective - as evidenced by the success of our team in competition. Better yet is the fact that his teaching style and attention to detail helps his students gain proficiency rapidly, while the team atmosphere fosters fellowship and a rare sense of camaraderie. This is THE place to train, and THE people to do it with. In me, JD has a student for life!

You guys are the luckiest crew in training. I visited some other jiu-jitsu schools in California, and by far, you are receiving the most diverse, effective training I've seen so far, aside from private classes. I'm going to miss all the traditional Gi, no-gi, Vale Tudo, and Thai Boxing North Dallas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have to offer.

Thank you Coach Shelley.
We are so proud of Jeremy and your team as a whole. You are an awesome leader and we haven't a doubt that Jeremy is in the right place!
Sincerely,

BJJ and JD Shelley have opened a whole new door to my life.
It not only keeps me in shape and to defend myself in public, but it gave me some personal goals to reach, achieve and look forward to. On top of that our BJJ Family makes me feel that I am a part of something large and by reaching my goals we all reach our goals.

When I moved to Plano, TX from Miami I didn't know anyone, and I went to JD's class from an online recommendation. JD's enthusiasm and support has turned my casual interest in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts into a huge positive motivation in my life. I have lost twenty pounds, gained infinite cardiovascular capabilities, made lifelong friends, and raised my level of skill to the point where I have been able to test my skills with the great fight talent Texas has to offer. JD provides an environment where both world class fighters and those looking to lose weight and gain confidence can train side-by-side and achieve their goals. Mike V.
I have been doing Jiu Jitsu for a few years. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has helped me in many ways. By doing jiu jitsu I have become very patient in my life goals. I have been able to excel in work, school, muay thai and jiu jitsu. Jiu jitsu has become a foundation of my everyday life. It has taught me to be respectful not only to my elders but also to people in the younger generations. JD Shelly has sharpened my skills in jiu jitsu and to become a better person in every aspect in life. With JDs teaching I have learned to become like water. It has boosted my confidence and has kept me in a positive way of thinking.

One thing I'll miss the most about Dallas is working with JD and his students. I studied under JD for almost two years in, well, you name it: jiu-jitsu, submission wrestling, stick and knife, wing chun. He is everything one could want in a teacher: patient, observant, versatile, open to new ideas, always striving to learn from the best. But the proof is on the mat; JD and his guys are some of the toughest (and nicest) brawlers I've ever met. Their enthusiasm and loyalty says everything one needs to know about JD.

Coach Shelley,
The best thing you taught me was about my patience. I've learned whether its in fighting or in everyday life that one must be determined to remain calm. In fact this is a quote you have in the gym above the drinking fountain. You are an excellent instructor/coach and have alot to offer your students and I feel very fortunate to have been able to train with you. Not only am I a better fighter, but I am a better person as well. My only regret is not starting Jiu-Jitsu earlier in my life.
Please send a thank you to everyone in class as each and every night everyone came to not only learn but to help each other. The respect in there was awesome!

Joe really likes the training --its very important to him. I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your school. I received a black belt in Shotokan 15 years ago, in Minneapolis. I had trained very seriously for 5 years and visited numerous martial arts schools during that time, looking for things to augment the classical approach of the Shotokan. I ended up going to Rick Faye's place, the Minnesota Kali Group. It was there that I first learned a little about Muay Thai and BJJ. This is what drew me to your school. Although I would love to train at your school myself, money is very tight right now, so it will just have to be Joe for now. I am very happy that I have my son at your school, getting the best instruction. I love the fact that every time I pick him up, he is drenched in sweat. His physical confidence grows every week that he is training. As I see it, there are three aspects about your school that are truly exceptional:
1) The quality of instructors is extraordinary.
2) The classes are about doing the work. Instruction is given while people continue to do the workout. In many, many other schools, instructors will completely stop down the entire class to make a point, and end up giving a lecture that takes up a huge portion of the class and no one gets a real work out. I have never seen this in your school. The workout portion of your classes never lose momentum, even though there is plenty of teaching taking place. Everyone leaves class drenched in sweat and a better fighter because of it.
3) The atmosphere is serious, but friendly. Its immediately obvious that there are many accomplished fighters and many people on that path, but the place is still welcoming to beginners like my son.
I am amazed that anyone in this surrounding area would train anywhere else. Thanks again for everything,
Roger L.
